1894-1977Tay Garnett es un interesantisimo realizador del que siempre recordaremos su El cartero siempre llama dos veces (The Postman Always Rings Twice, 1946). Se dice que mantuvo siempre un acusado instinto nomada que lo mantenia en movimiento constante. Alistado en el servicio aereo de la marina, sufrio un accidente de aviacion en San Diego mientras realizaba practicas de instructor de vuelo, que le dejo como secuela una patente cojera. De vuelta a la vida civil, entro en el mundo del cine como creador de gags y guionista de fragmentos comicos para Mack Sennett y Hal Roach. Aunque como guionista es mas un hombre del mudo que del sonoro, como director ocurre lo contrario: la mayor parte de su obra la realiza en los ultimos anos 30, los 40 y los primeros 50, conformando una filmografia nada espectacular pero solida. No fue el suyo el mundo del western, que solo abordo tardiamente y para la television. La excepcion, Pistolas en la frontera, mas valiosa de lo que su escasa fama sugiere.Cattle King (Pistolas en la frontera). 1963. 88 min. Eastmancolor. MGM/ Missouri Productions.
